Fit for Food Complies with food safety regulations ​ Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C is Fit for Food Our Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C has been one of the most versatile wood oils for many years now. You can apply it to floors, furniture, stairs… And our oil is also ideal for worktops and other surfaces where food is involved. We can say that Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C is Fit for Food. But what does that mean? As we have the toy standard, we also want to make sure that our Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C can be used on wood that comes into contact with food. That’s why Eurofins provided us the Fit for Food declaration: Fit for Food ensures full compliance with the harmonized legislative requirements in Europe for all types of food contact materials. Manufacturing and testing of products for food contact are often handled as a necessity due to legislative requirements or market demands. We can from now on state that, if Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C (A+B) is used on a wooden surface that is in itself food safe, then the combination of the wood and our Oil Plus 2C is also safe and therefore ‘Fit for Food’, in regulation with EC n° 1935/2004. This declaration is the result of an official test, done by Eurofins, an official independent testing institute. In practice, ‘Fit for Food” means that kitchen worktops, tabletops, serving bowls etc. that have been treated with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C are also safe for household use which becomes more and more a recommendation for a lot of projects.

A list of the most important certificates we have been awarded: Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold: The label combines the most relevant emission specifications and requirements in one certification. The Indoor Air Comfort Gold label shows compliance with specifications on VOC emissions set out globally. We are proud to be first-in-class to receive this certification. ​ ​ ​ ​ A+ label : French legislation measures the number of VOCs in products and awards a grade from A+ (lowest emission) to C (highest emission). ​ ​ ​ ​ 0% VOC: An independent laboratory (Ecca) has subjected our products to gas chromatography tests to help determine the VOC level in a product. ​ ​ ​ ​ Toy standard EN 71-3: This European guideline regulates the migration of certain hazardous elements like barium, cadmium and mercury etc. in different types of toys. The classification presents emission requirements for the materials used in ordinary work spaces and residences for good indoor air quality. M1 stands for low emissions. ​ ​ ​ ​ BFL-S1 - FR Certificate: Our RMC FR Fire Protection Oil System has been tested to the following standards: EN 13501-1, EN ISO 11925-2 and EN ISO 9239-1. The B-certificate is the highest rating an oil system has ever achieved. S1 suggests that the oil system limits smoke generation, as we have sought during development.
